It has been observed that carbon nanotubes can form loops between two contacts. Theoretical and experimental studies have shown that the loop sizes resulting from fabrication have relatively little effect on the overall conductance of the nanotube. However, recent experiments at IBM have shown that photocurrent from these nanotubes is suppressed at the location of the loop. In order to investigate this phenomenon, we apply self-consistent charge-potential calculations to the looped carbon nanotube structure.
