Shelly Olsan

Shelly Olsan guides Krell Institute’s strategic direction while overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations, which includes working with senior managers on technology, finance, communications and programs. Ms. Olsan establishes and articulates the organization’s vision and ensures its implementation across all segments of the non-profit enterprise. She has worked with the Department of Energy and its lab complex for nearly twenty-five years.

Ms. Olsan oversees Krell’s largest grant- and contract-sponsored programs, the DOE CSGF, DOE NNSA SSGF and DOE NNSA LRGF. As President of Krell and the PI for these fellowships, she leads operations and acts as liaison between Krell and its funding agencies. Having started at Krell in 2000 as director of its strategic and corporate communications, she amassed numerous awards and set the standard for the high-quality science publications that Krell is renowned for to this day.

Ms. Olsan has competed for and won multiple grants and contracts to fund workforce development initiatives across the government space. A sought-after collaborator, she is currently working with the Department of Energy, the DOE national laboratories, and the National Science Foundation on multiple initiatives.
