Dr. Shanita Brown, Transformative Counseling & Consulting, PLLC; East Carolina State University

STEM collegiate students face higher rates of stress and mental health challenges, including maladaptive perfectionism and intense pressures to perform in harsh and competitive environments (Kalkbreannar & Malechi, 2022; Rice et al. 2015). This interactive workshop offers evidenced based strategies to mitigate emotional distress for STEM students during and beyond graduate school.

Session learning objectives will enable participants to:

  1. Identify core tenets of wellness
  2. Enhance their competence about indicators of stress and how to manage it
  3. Engage in experiential wellness activities to achieve optimal emotional wellness
