David Etim is the Federal Program Manager for the Verification and Validation sub-program in the Office of Advanced Simulation and Computing and Institutional Research and Development, also known as the ASC Program. His primary responsibility is overseeing the application of critical skills and tools at the NNSA laboratories needed to ensure models and codes demonstrate the ability to predict physical behavior and produce accurate methods and assessments. He also is the Federal Program Manager for the Predictive Science Academic Alliance Program, overseeing leading U.S. universities’ participation in research needed to further predictive science and effective extreme-scale computing. Etim also supports numerous activities as a federal point of contact within NNSA Defense Programs (NA-11) and the ASC Program (NA-114), including the NNSA Academic Programs, the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship, the ASC Advanced Machine Learning Initiative, and the ASC Large Scale Calculations Initiative.
Before assuming his current position, Etim completed a year-long graduate fellowship with NNSA under the same office and transitioned to federal service in 2017. He received an M.S. in computer science and engineering from the University of Connecticut and is pursuing a Ph.D. in the same discipline there. David also has a B.S. in computer science with a minor in applied mathematics from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University.
