Maintaining Scientific Leadership for the Nuclear Security Enterprise: An NNSA Perspective
Njema Frazier, National Nuclear Security Adminstration
Since the cessation of underground nuclear explosive testing, the nation has built a multi-billion dollar enterprise with flagship capabilities in modeling, simulation, engineering, and experimentation that allow the U.S. to gain unparalleled insight into weapons phenomena. However, our deterrent is more than warheads, computers, legacy test data, and experimental facilities: it’s expertise. This talk explores how NNSA is planning to address current and future needs when it comes to scientific expertise and next-generation stewards for the Nuclear Security Enterprise.
