Summary of Research
Despite over a century of research, a first principles theory of the liquid state remains elusive to physicists. However, recent developments in kinetic theory offer a source of optimism. My thesis work will expand on these developments and continue attempts to push kinetic theory into the liquid regime. Dense plasmas, like those created in inertial confinement fusion (ICF) implosions, exhibit liquid-like properties owing to their high density. This work will therefore increase our understanding of transport in ICF experiments and directly inform existing models.
