Brian Spears is a senior technical leader in artificial intelligence, scientific computing and national security. As technical director for the DOE’s Genesis Mission, he helps lead a major federal effort to advance AI, strengthen U.S. technological leadership and support national security. Previously, he led AI strategy at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), where he advanced the use of AI for science and national security and led modeling efforts behind the National Ignition Facility’s historic fusion ignition milestone.
Spears is a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at LLNL and has received multiple honors for leadership, research, and innovation in AI and high-performance computing, including two Secretary of Energy Achievement Awards.
