Humanity produces exponentially more data year over year. We are quickly outpacing the capabilities of current storage devices. Molecular data storage is a dense and durable medium that may be able to step in and bridge this gap. We may even be able to push particular types of computation into the molecular realm. Yet, there are some critical remaining open questions for these new devices. How can we ensure our information is safely stored and is robust to errors? What sort of computations can we perform in the molecular realm? And what are the energy trade-offs that we are making? My poster presents an overview of DNA-based data storage as well as my work to answer these deeper questions.
