Congressional Breakfast
As a special event within the conference, Krell again organized a
Computational Scientists of the Future Breakfast, held in the Rayburn
House Office Building. Krell coordinated this breakfast to provide
government officials with an opportunity to meet their constituent
Fellows.
Representative Tom Latham (R-IA) provided opening remarks at the
breakfast and spoke about the importance of educating Congress about
the vital work of today’s young scientists. He encouraged Fellows to
meet with the Congress people and talk to them about science and
technology issues. Prior to his remarks, the Fellows had time to
mingle with several Congressional staffers in attendance.
Additionally, several Fellows had individual meetings with Senators
and Representatives during the annual conference. Krell was pleased
to assist in facilitating these individual meetings.
