First Place Two additional awards, new to the Iowa Adventures in Supercomputing Expo, were given at this year's ceremony in honor of Dr. Charles T. Wright. Dr. Wright was an Iowa State University computer engineering professor who supported the AiS program through his participation as a judge for many years. He was killed in an unfortunate car accident in March, 2000. The Charles T. Wright award was given to the project that best demonstrated computer engineering principles. The winners of these awards were: Luke and Nick Nessen from West Bend-Mallard with their project "ChiPs '99: Studying the Thermal Exhaustion in Modern Microprocessors," and Jack Steuben, Rick Engbretson, David Quackenbush and Derek Noe from Jesup with their project "Project Acoustics." |
