Adiabatic Flame Temperature: A Computational Physical Chemistry Experiment
1994 marked the first year of the
Undergraduate Computational Science award,
sponsored by the Department of Energy through the Office of
Scientific Computing. Cash awards were presented for thirteen
submissions, and four submissions
were granted honorable mention. Principal authors and co-authors were
guests of the Department of Energy at an awards exposition and dinner
held in Washington DC, Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill Hotel, on Friday, 16
September.
An electronic poster session was held in the afternoon at
which the awardees exhibited their submissions. This session was open
to the public and was attended by representatives
from government, academia, and industry.
Following an excellent dinner, introductions were given by James Corones and
David Martin, and a talk was presented by
Dr. Frank Huban, Executive Director the ASEE
(the American Society for Engineering Education)
on the future of Engineering Education.
