Junior Level:

• Ship Hull Hydrostatics by Charles Farris, Colorado School of Mines.

Senior Level:

• Parallel Processing Implementation of Wavelet Transform by Richard Relue, Colorado School of Mines.

• Parallel Implementation of the Discrete Element Method by Andrew Hustrulid, Colorado School of Mines.

Honorable Mention

• Finite-difference modeling of seismic wavefields in complex velocity models by Timo Tjan, Colorado School of Mines.

• Parallel seismic phase-shift migration by Tong Chen, Colorado School of Mines.

The first running of the UCES project's Undergraduate Computational Science Education competition was a pilot project involving students from Mississippi State University and the Colorado School of Mines. Future versions will be open to students (at any level) nationwide. The goals of the competation are to recognize excellence in WEB-based educational efforts by students. All of the submissions were of very high quality, and the UCES project extends its thanks to all who took time to participate. The competition will be held again in the near future.
