At the end of this course, undergraduate students are expected to
demonstrate:
- an understanding of the basic issues involved in using
high performance computers.
- a knowledge of how to write parallel programs on
state of the art supercomputers.
Graduate students are expected to do a more thorough study of the literature
and demonstrate at the end of the course:
- knowledge of how parallel computers can be used to solve
problems in their areas.
- the ability to design and analyze parallel algorithms to
solve problems.
- the ability to map a problem to the best suited parallel machine,
and to write parallel programs for that machine.
- an understanding of the current trends in the field of
high performance computing.
The following evaluation sheet
was used to grade student projects in 1994. You can expect
a similar evaluation format this year too.
