Unit 6 Introduction to Computing
Each student will:
- Define the terms

- hardware
- software
- input devices
- output devices
- central processing unit (CPU)
- arithmetic logic unit (ALU)
- machine language
- binary language
- compiler
- operating system.
- List the five steps involved in the process using the computer
to solve a problem.
- Recognize the difference between solving the problem and
getting results from the computer program used to solve the problem.
- Formulate mathematical models and algorithms for given
problems.
- Define the terms:
- compiler
- source code
- object code
- syntax errors
- debugging
- Define a computational problem.
- Formulate a simple mathematical model.
- Use an editor to create a fortran 90 program file.
- Compile a fortran 90 program.
- Execute a fortran 90 program.
- Test a fortran 90 program with multiple data sets.
